Mr. Mostaffa Metwally MD, FRCOG
Course Coordinator
Consultant Gynaecologist at The Jessop Wing and Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield
Subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery
I am a Sheffield based Consultant Gynaecologist and Subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery with a private gynaecology practice at Thornbury and Claremont Hospitals in Sheffield. After completing my training at the JessopWing and Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield, I worked as an NHS Consultant at Ninewells Hospital and Medical School in Dundee, Scotland for a few years. There I led the development of the Reproductive Surgery service, introducing several new techniques including laparoscopic myomectomy.
I then moved back home to South Yorkshire as a Consultant at the Jessop Wing, Royal Hallamshire Hospital, BMI Thornbury, and Claremont Hospitals, pleased to again be a Sheffield Gynaecologist.
I have extensive experience in the management of gynaecological conditions such as menstrual bleeding problems, endometriosis and ovarian cysts and fibroids. I have particular expertise in the use of laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery (key hole surgery) to manage gynaecological problems such as laparoscopic hysterectomy, laparoscopic treatment of fibroids, endometriosis and ovarian cysts. Keyhole surgery when possible leads to a quicker and easier recovery from surgery.
I am a subspecialist in Fertility Surgery such as Reversal of sterilisation, tubal surgery and treatment of uterine anomalies that can hinder fertility. I provide a private service for comprehensive fertility investigations and treatments such as ovulation induction IVF and ICSI in conjunction with Jessop Fertility where I am also a consultant.
I aim to provide my patients with the highest level of care in Gynaecology services in Sheffield, South Yorkshire and surrounding areas.
I have a strong research interest and have published widely and continue to present regularly at a national and international level on many areas of Gynaecology.
